Account Management
This section guides you through managing your Screenshotly account settings. You can typically access these settings from your Account Dashboard (assuming this link).
1. Managing Your Profile
Keep your personal information up to date.
- Accessing Profile Settings: Navigate to the 'Profile' or 'Account Settings' section in your dashboard.
- Editable Information:
- Name
- Email Address (Note: Email changes may require verification)
- Password (Follow security best practices for new passwords)
- Procedure:
- Go to your profile settings.
- Update the desired fields.
- Save your changes. You might be asked to enter your current password to confirm.
2. API Keys
Manage the API keys used to authenticate requests to the Screenshotly API.
- Accessing API Keys: Navigate to the 'API Keys' section in your dashboard.
- Generating a New API Key:
- Click on "Generate New API Key" or a similar button.
- Optionally, give the key a descriptive name (e.g., "Production Server", "Testing Environment").
- The new API key will be displayed. Copy it immediately and store it securely. For security reasons, the full key may not be shown again.
- Revoking an API Key:
- Find the API key you wish to revoke in the list.
- Click "Revoke" or a similar option.
- Confirm the action. Once revoked, the API key can no longer be used to make requests.
- Best Practices for API Key Security:
- Treat API keys like passwords.
- Do not embed API keys directly in client-side code.
- Store API keys in environment variables or secure credential management systems.
- Generate separate API keys for different applications or environments.
- Revoke unused or potentially compromised keys immediately.
3. Usage Monitoring
Track your API request volume and quota consumption.
- Accessing Usage Information: Look for a 'Usage', 'Billing', or 'Dashboard Overview' section.
- Information Displayed:
- Number of API requests made in the current billing cycle.
- Your current plan's quota limits.
- Remaining requests.
- Usage history (e.g., daily/monthly charts).
- Notifications: You may receive email notifications if you approach your quota limits (if this feature exists).
4. Account Deletion
Permanently delete your Screenshotly account and associated data.
- Accessing Account Deletion: Typically found at the bottom of 'Account Settings' or 'Profile' pages.
- Procedure:
- Navigate to the account deletion section.
- You may be asked to confirm your password.
- Read the implications of account deletion carefully (e.g., data loss, subscription cancellation).
- Confirm that you wish to delete your account.
- Consequences:
- All your personal data will be removed.
- Active subscriptions will be canceled (check refund policy if applicable).
- API keys will be invalidated.
- This action is usually irreversible.
